More than 70 scout members participated in a tree-planting project held yesterday morning at Kampung Sungai Mau, Mukim Bukit Sawat. It is an annual project held by the teams with the cooperation of the Sungai Liang Forestry Department.

The project involved all scout teams from districts nationwide. Among the activities conducted were watering the trees as well as cleaning up the compound.

Haji Othman Durani who is also the Commissioner of the Rover Scouts said that the project was aimed at educating the teams on the importance of preserving the forest as well as to keep the selected trees from extinction. He also added that we play an important role in saving the world from issues such as the global warming dilemma.

Although Brunei is a small nation, it is high time for us to show our responsibilities to the world.
The project was also held to mark the 75th anniversary of Negara Brunei Darussalam Scouts.

During the event, the teams named the area as 'Taman Jubli Intan Pengakap Brunei'. The activities also provided invaluable insight to participants on the proper ways of planting trees, maintaining them, cleaning the area and replacing the dead trees.
